There are a million applications and games that are available to download for Android. Also, each day hundreds of new applications and games are released. We, humans, have a habit of trying out new things, and new applications and games are no exception. We either install newly launched applications and Android games to try them out or keep using the ones that we already have on our phones. Whatever the case is with you, there is one thing that everyone must take care of, and that is to completely close a game or app on Android. Doing this ensures that the app you have been using, or the game that you have been playing is not running in the background, and is closed completely. If an app or game keeps running in the background then it can cause problems for your phone that we have discussed below. So, in this article, we will be answering the question, “How to completely close a Game / App on Android”?
Steps to Completely Close a Game / App on Android
Some certain games and apps do not completely close after clearing them from the recent apps section. This can lead to some annoying problems such as a faster battery drain, phone becoming laggy and irresponsive, and increased data consumption. All these issues might not a big deal for many Android users, but while you are traveling these issues can make your battery drain faster or exhaust all your data. So, it is always better to fix a problem, rather than living with it.
Here are the few simple steps following which you can be sure that no unwanted applications or games are running in the background.
Step 1. After you are done playing the game or using the application, the very first step that you want to do is to close the game / app by manually swiping up/down, or however, an app / game closes in your phone’s user interface. If you are not sure, then you can even tap on the “Close Apps” button or any “X” button. This would close all the recent applications that you have used.
Step 2. Now, many games/apps are made in a way that provides them access to the internet even when they are closed. For example, if you play PUBG Mobile or any other game, you might have got the notifications related to various events, etc. even when the game is closed. Another example is Whatsapp. It might be an essential application for many users, so I do not recommend doing this with Whatsapp, but I’m just taking the example of this app. You can receive Whatsapp messages even when the app is closed.
Step 3. The most important thing now is to figure out all the unwanted apps/games that you do not need when they are closed, and only want them to use your data, or memory when you are using them.
Step 4. After you have made a list of all the apps/games that you want to completely close, you shall now proceed to the next step.
Step 5. Open your phone settings, then go to the Apps section. In the phone I’m using to demonstrate has Apps & Notifications option to access the apps and games that are installed on the phone. It might differ with your phone’s user interface.
Step 6. Now, from the apps section, you need to see the list of all apps by tapping on the “All Apps” option. This includes all the apps and games that are installed by you, along with the system applications.
Step 7. Let’s say that I have to completely close the Amazon Shopping app as I do not want to receive the notifications regarding offers, discounts, etc. as it is consuming my phone’s data and processing power in the background.
Step 8. Whichever app / game you want to completely close on Android, you should tap on the name of that app from the all apps section.
Step 9. After tapping on that app / game, you will be presented with a newer set of options that apply only to the app / game that you have selected.
Step 10. There you will find a “Force Stop” button, and tapping on that button once would force close the app / game and refrain it from using any data or processing power, as long as it is closed.
Step 11. Now depending upon your phone, and the user interface, you might not have the “Force Stop” button, and instead have “Force Close” “Close App” or anything similar. Click on that, and then tap OK for the confirmation.
Step 12. You should repeat this step for all the games/apps that you want to completely close on Android, and it will hardly take more than a couple of minutes depending upon how many apps/games you want to completely close.
Step 13. Although, before closing apps/games completely, make sure you are not closing any important app that is required by the system, or it might lead to a system crash. In case you do not want to run into crashes and errors, I highly recommend you not to close or force stop any application that you are not sure about the functionality of.
