Getting to the current highest level is still pretty much challenging for most of the players living in remote areas. Due to the lack of PokeStops, Gyms, and the absence of other Pokémon GO Trainers, makes is quite difficult for a trainer to level up to the max.

Other Possible Changes
We have already talked about the level 50 XP requirement, and all the rewards that you will get upon reaching level 50 in Pokémon GO. There is one other major aspect that might be changed upon the introduction of the new level cap, that is the PokeStop/Gym request feature.
Currently, any trainer upon reaching level 40 can request to place a gym at some nearby place including Public parks, temples, and other public places. And, there are some chances that this request feature might be shifted from level 40 to level 50, which would again make the game much more challenging, and this should not happen. The reason is that there are a lot of Pokémon GO trainers who are living in remote locations and are somehow surviving without any nearby gyms or PokeStops, and are working very hard to reach the level 40 so that they can request Niantic for a nearby PokeStop, or even a Gym. By shifting this feature to level 50, would surely bring more difficulties for all such trainers, and thus the feature should not be altered.
Conclusion
Pokémon GO Level 50 release would up the difficulty level of the game to a great extent and would make the game even more challenging in the future. All the maxed out trainers would need to get off their comfort zones and grind up once again to reach the top. Although, there is still no official announcement regarding the introduction of level 50 in Pokémon GO, and we can only hope that it might be announced some times in the coming few months.
