Pokémon GO Mega Evolution update is finally here, and trainers from all across the world can now mega evolve their Pokémon. The mega evolution update was one of the most awaited updates in the game, and the trainers have so many doubts in their minds regarding the mega evolution. If you are a new trainer and does not know what the mega evolution in Pokémon GO is, then let me tell you in very simple words, mega evolution is the most powerful, yet a temporary state of a Pokémon that can be achieved using the Mega Energy. Not all Pokémon can mega evolve, and those who do become a beast. In this post, we will discuss the Pokémon GO Mega Evolution in detail and guide you through the process of how you can mega evolve your Pokémon, what is mega energy, how to get mega energy, and more.
Pokémon GO Mega Evolution Basics
As we have already discussed what the Mega Evolution in Pokémon GO is, now let us know the important details about the same that would clear the doubts of many trainers.
1. To mega evolve a Pokémon, you need Mega Energy of that specific Pokémon, as all the Pokémon have their mega energy. We have discussed the mega energy in more detail below.
2. You can find mega evolved Pokémon in raids, not just any other raid but a “Mega Raid.” After you defeat that Mega Evolved Pokémon in the Mega raid, you earn some mega energy. The amount of mega energy depends upon how fast you have defeated the Pokémon.
3. You can have only one mega Pokémon at once, irrespective of having the required amount of mega energy for other Pokémon as well. Even if you try to mega evolve any other Pokémon while already having a Mega Pokémon, the Pokémon that you mega evolved earlier would go back to its normal form.
4. Shadow Pokémon obtained from defeating team GO Rocket, and clone Pokémon are not capable of Mega Evolving, at least not currently.
5. Mega Evolved Pokémon would provide an attack boost to all the other Pokémon, and a much greater boost to the Pokémon having same type attacks as the mega evolved Pokémon.
What is Mega Energy
Mega Energy is the building block for any Pokémon that is capable of mega evolution. Every Pokémon capable of mega evolving requires its type of mega energy. Once the required amount of mega energy is collected for a Pokémon, it can be mega evolved. As the Pokémon GO Mega Evolution feature is released just recently, we currently have a very limited option to obtain mega energy. They are currently only two ways to obtain mega energy for a Pokémon, one is through the mega raids, and the other is by completing the Special Research Tasks given by Professor Willow.
